Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders joined forces in criticizing Donald Trump’s manner of dealing with the deadly coronavirus.
On Thursday, Democratic candidate Joe Biden questioned the POTUS’s leadership. His biggest rival, Sanders, also fired at Trump’s recent response about the virus.
Sanders provided a lengthy list of policy proposals aimed at providing help and support to low-income and working-class families in an attempt to secure their votes in the upcoming presidential elections.
“Unfortunately, this virus laid bare the severe shortcomings of the current administration. Public fears are being compounded by pervasive lack of trust in this president fueled by an adversarial relationship with the truth that he continues to have,” Biden said.
The presidential candidate also offered his own plans on how to prevent the further spread of the virus. He said that vapidly and vastly expanding tests need to be made available free of charge. He also wants to accelerate the push for a vaccine and boost hospital capacity.
Biden also stressed the fact that the United States and the entire world are not yet ready to combat the deadly coronavirus but the clock is already ticking.
Meanwhile, Sanders urged the POTUS to declare the pandemic a national emergency. He also encouraged public and private sectors to work together to combat the virus and prevent the further spread of its adverse effects.
Just like Biden, Sanders mentioned about providing treatments that are free of charge. He also said that emergency employment assistance should be made available. According to Sanders, Medicare should be available for all.
“Our country is at a severe disadvantage compared to every other major country on earth because we do not guarantee health care to all people as a right,” he said.
In related news, the latest exit polls from Michigan revealed that Sanders trounced Biden among voters aged 18 to 29. Biden, on the other hand, trounced Sanders among voters aged over 65.
